Does anybody know anything about the corner shop at the bottom of De Lacy Mount, off Abbey Road in Kirkstall? It looks like an old newsagents. I like to think it has been closed for donkeys years and is a bit of a time capsule inside (it looks rather old and dilapidated) but perhaps I am just getting a bit carried away and it's only been closed a couple of years or so? The 'Wall's' advert on the wall facing the main road looks quite old I thought. And it looks like there are a couple of fancy stained glass windows covered up by some boarding. Any info folk? Cheers.

I drove past the shop last night and it does look eerie - or is that because the ghostly theories have been suggested to us ?? Although I drove and conducted along that road for many years i can't honestly remember what the shop did in its trading days.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

Hi Chrism/Bramley4woods?The 'Murder Shop' was owned by Dawson's and wassituated just thru the Kirkstall Rd Viaduct. Their mottowas 'We Don't CUT prices,We Murder them!' They soldeverything you could think of. If they didn't have it,they'dget it for you!Last time I was along there the building was a fireplace manufrs.but I think it's something else now?I have posted on this subject before, could be a couple ofyears back. I believe the main thread was on the oldKirkstall Road Swimming Baths and wash housewhich was situated on the other side of the viaducta few yards towards Leeds.

Oh no! I'd rather hoped Whyme was telling the truth. I'd come up with my own little story about how the owners had a spooky experience and had to shut up shop suddenly leaving behind the stripy awnings and the Wall's advert.Which was the other shop on Kirkstall road? Opposite the George would be the carpet shop wouldn't it? Perhaps the victim was scared to death in the De Lacey shop then wrapped in a carpet and sent along the secret tunnel back at De Lacey mount towards Netto? OK maybe not, just read Arry's post. The swimming baths sound interesting.
