10 water lane seems to have had many owners. According to directories:1817 Benjamin Atkinson, basket maker1826 James Hollings stonemason1830 John Rhodes, plumber1834 Squire Stansfield waterman1842 William Smith, grocer1847 Mary Clark painter1870 William Sharp shopkeeper1880 John Richardson & Son, drysalters & leatherfactorsOf course the building may not be the same in the earlier entries. The 1847 map looks very similar to the 1905 map (for that row of buildings. I have marked in red what I think must be no 10

The map is an Alan Godfrey map titled Leeds (Lower Briggate &riverside) 1847, numbered Leeds Sheet 15

I walked down there last year, walking home from Town and assumed that Water lane ran from Leeds bridge, along the water front to Victoria bridge and onto it's present route along the Hol Beck.

The strap hinge for the door in the wall facing was, until recently, still there.
