It seems a stupid waste, as per. The fountain hasn't been on for ages. Have they removed the pumping equipment? I recall the building in the middle of the roundabout looking a bit bare but can't remember if it's because it was empty now or if the plants are just gone.

Amazingly enough I went past this afternoon and fountains were switched on! I can't rememeber the last time I saw them working, must be well over a year ago.

A door to the building was open on the Saturday of the Grand Depart ... I may or may not have sneaked a look inside, and yes it looks like the pumping equipment is still in there.

The simple reason being if you or I bought a pump for our pond and it didn't work we would return it to the shop where purchased to complain and get it fixed or replaced or refund . When its not your money it doesn't really matter if it works or not its just a feather in your cap while you were responsible for that department to say it was your idea . It will probably disappear shortly be a nice bit of scrap value or into somebodys back garden for their pond . Imagine if the fountains in the Victoria Quarter broke down they wouldn't be idle for very long . Do them water spouts in City Square still work or was it same supplier ?

I remember posting a news item a while ago in another thread, that LCC were turning off all of these displays because of the high cost of maintaining them.

A high cost made worse by buying shoddy equipment in the first place.
