On the north side of the river in Otley, on the right between the bridge and Farnley Lane, is a stone-built building with a squat, square tower topped by a pyramidal roof.Does anyone know if it has a function, or is it purely decorative? As it's near the river, I'm guessing it's possibly a pumping station of some kind. Any ideas?Cheers,Si.

Wetherby is in Leeds, and is mainly north of the Wharfe! Also, The Spite pub has been covered on this forum, and that's a mile north of Otley bridge - and in North Yorkshire!I rest my case, m'Lud.

And Whitby's in York as far as postcodes go. Evidence dismissed. Insensitive restructuring of local government a nonsense. Evidence dismissed. My prejudice remains unchanged. Damn, I meant facts remain unchanged....oh b*gg*r...

I can confirm that it's not water or sewage related.

This tower you mean Si?It has windows and a door, can only presume it is water related, though the boundary wall from the end terrace does butt up to the tower.
