Both myself and some of my colleagues have long since been wondering about the history of the building we now occupy for work. The reason I ask is because we are unable to trace ANY details from ANY where . We have tried Leodis and all other historical searches to no avail. The only information I can provide is the following address:127 upper Wortley Rd.ArmleyLeedsLS12 4JGThe building is situated next door to the old police station. There is a memorial stone inset to the right hand side of th building that reads " this stone was laid by William Jones on the 5th Jan 1924, a a member of the institute " We have done various searches with these details, also with no luck !If somebody can help it would be greatly appreciated.

The most useful sources of information would be the Kelly's Street Guides since then. These would give you former occupants, from which you might be able to find some historical data. A quick google suggests that editions from that period are in print. Leeds City Library might have copies.

I belive that the Building in question was in fact part of the CO-OP group and was a Butchers/Green Grocers. The foundation stone reads (This stone was laid by William Jones Director of the society 5th jan 1924) unsure of the exact year but i belive it was around the 1950's. I also belive there was a sweet shop on the corner hope this helps (Jeremy).
