The first pic also brings to mind Denison Hall at the top of Hanover Square.

I used to help with the hospital radio station there in the late 70s - the studio was in the little room right at the top of the building, which could be a bit spooky late at night. Sad to see it looking so dilapidated now - I think the station is still broadcasting, presumably with a new home!

All 3 buildings are pre 1850 so could well be in a simmilar style. Incidentaly the old Chapel Allerton building was I believe known originally as Gledhow Grove. Whilst looking back at my maps, I never realised before that Waterloo Lake predated 1850 as well, I had always thought that that turned up in the late 19th century

Whilst looking back at my maps, I never realised before that Waterloo Lake predated 1850 as well, I had always thought that that turned up in the late 19th century Burt's History of Roundhay Park tells of how Nicholson first built the upper lake as the main lake, overlooked by the entrance to the house in the early 18800's and goes on to describe how the large lower lake, Waterloo Lake, was then added when he (Nicholson) acquired the additional land and with it the remaining portion of Great Heads Beck in 1815.
