Hello to EveryoneAfter a recent trip to the Leeds City Museum I became interested in the Large Public Trench Air Raid Shelters that were shown on a map in the Leeds at War section. After searching on Google Earth I have saved the 11 locations from the map in the museum.I cannot be certain as to where these locations were exactly but here are the 11:These are only approximate locations. Does anyone know the exact whereabouts of these and whether anything remains of the shelters? It would be great if some people can upload some photos of the shelters. I understand that there was over 300 communal shelters but these are the ones that are located on the map in the City Museum.

Harehills air raid shelter.. probably in Potternewton Park.As a kid, used to "excavate" all sorts of bricks and rubble on the hillside left of the main path from the Harehills Ave. entrance.I believe it has all been landscaped now.

The one on Armley park is still there (2nd pic), it is the big mound behind the bowling greens. It's just out of shot on that picture.

The one on Hunslet Moor is not there it was dug out and filled in a few years ago. If you look at the map it was were the wall is marked StPeters Court it was about fifteen foot from the wall on the side with the grass. Were the house is built at right angles it was to the left of that.
