Yes it's true folks, the fountains were actually ON this morning! They weren't shooting majestically up into the air so much, more piddling along, but they were on.I can't recallt he last time I saw them working. Nor the one on the roundabout at Milgarth. What a waste of money!hen the City Sq. fountains first opened, they were set to fire high into the air and looked fantastic, especially at night. Other cities would make the most of these types of features....

Isn't the issue of all that water turning to ice and then people complaining that the council is turning City square into a death trap?

Yes they were turned off during the colder months cardi - sensibly I suspect for the reasons you give! They've been on I'm sure, for a while again now. Doesn't the control system monitor the wind speed as well, adjusting the height to prevent excessive spray?

Now that is what i call a fountain!!Yeah,if you look theres a wind monitor there for the City Square fountains, supposed to regulate the height of the water in relation to wind speed.Even in summer its a piddle, might as well not bother.
