Hi does anyone know anything about the history of Capel House in Calverley? I am about to move into a flat that is contained within and the landlord told me it used to belong to a mill owner.I can't find anything about it though, it is located on Capel Street for the postal address but it is also on Town Gate. I'll try to attach a picture but I don't know if it will work!

Hi Mork,Watch out for an awkward old git who's a frequent visitor to the occupant of Flat 1.Capel House is actually side on to Town Gate, its front door being definitely Number 1 Capel Street. The Pilley family owned a mill at Eccleshill, Bradford. The building's still there, on the left just before the roundabout at Harrogate Road/Pullan Avenue when approaching from Greengates. It's in multi-occupancy now - a bit like Capel House, really!I hope you enjoy living in Capel House. Calverley's not a bad place, altho' like anywhere it's choked with traffic during peak periods.

Brilliant, thanks for the info chaps! I used to work in the Mayfair bingo in Leeds so I can handle nasty old people luckily I think I can attach a picture now for those that don't know what I am talking about.
