Hello,Apologies if there is already information about this, I have looked and cant find anything anywhere.Does anyone know what the stone circle is at Thwaite mills near the canal? When was it created, what purpose did / does it serve etc??ThanksR

Hi there,Thanks for your response - i have read through that thread before (really interesting, didnt even wonder what that stone pillar was for) but more specifically i was wanting to know about the stone circle in the picture here:http://www.leodis.org/display.aspx?reso ... 7305545and i couldnt find anything on that thread. am i just being blind?ThanksR

it was built as an art project back in the 1990's.it has however been used by modern Pagans for seasonal rituals to my personal knowledge and according to leeds pagans of my acquaintance, the stones are actually astrologically aligned. i must admit that I have never been along to have a look.Must opo down it must be 10 years or more since I was last at Thwaite Mills.

Ah, thank you so much for that - its been bugging me for ages and nobody seemed to know anything about it. You should definitely have a look at it - it's small but very impressive to say it was an art project, some good carvings on the stones and there was slightly more weathering I could easily believe it had been there for hundreds of years.
