Hi All.Does anyone know who lives in an old house at Eccup North Leeds (if anyone)????The house is very old and situated off the main road to The New Inn Pub on your right. Then house is one of only two on a narrow side road that takes you to the resevoir past a farm which i think MAY be Eccup Lane.I have driven past many times and on one occassion thought i saw a figure in one of the windows. The house doesnt look lived in and i would be interested to learn more about this property and its history.Regards.

hi ellnot sure about this myself, but you could try posting a picture of the house, or perhaps a map or Google Earth coordinates ... might spark off a few memories - sounds intriguing!dsco

If it's the one I think you're talking about, it was recently renovated (a few years ago). However, I may be thinking of a different one. This is the one you get to the end of the lane and its at the bottom facing you. Cows to the left, reservoir to the right.

I have seen this house. Theres about 2 and they look very old and seems that no one is living there. It is old and tatty. The last time i went passed there was clothes on the washing line - very old clothes. Some say a witch once lived here but i don't know much about it and would like to find out more too!

I often pass that house when I'm out cycling. If it's the same one it's on a lane called Village Road that conects Eccup Lane to Eccup Moor Road. It's an old stone house with a dark beige render.I'm not sure if anyone lives there but there are old dirty curtains at the window and different items in the side yard when I pass.I went passed yesterday and there was an old washing machine in the yard that wasn't there before.I might have a cycle up there tomorrow and peek through the windows. Watch this space.

This house is on Village Road and is owned by Leeds City Council who are deciding what to do with it. The half nearest Eccup Lane was formerly occupied by an old lady, Alice, who died aged 93 a couple of years ago. She was completely deaf but have lived contentedly in the very un-modernised house for years. Many neighbours, and passing cyclists and walkers, helped her with day to day tasks she found difficult. The council were planning to sell the house as it is, but I believe the council is now drawing up a planning brief for its future. Council planners may be waiting for the difficult planning decision they have to make on the old Eccup Institute site - Mount View garage - nearby where a new house has been proposed in the Green Belt. The existing wooden building is pretty delapidated. and the back of this site is a real eyesore and needs cleaning up, but will the council relax its Green Belt policy?

Council planning officials are recommending refusal of proposals for a house in the Green Belt on the old Eccup village institute site nearby. It may now be difficult for the council to propose a redevelopment of Alice's house which it owns, also in the Green Belt.

The old house at Eccup has now got a "This house is not for sale" sticker in the window....but I guess it soon will be. It is up to the owners - Leeds City Council. They might just pull it down, as they did with most of Eccup, becuse it is very close to Village Road.

I went today and saw that piece of paper in the window saying "THIS HOUSE IS NOT FOR SALE!"Maybe they don't want the council to buy it?Anyway, the windows are smashed so i moved the brown nets and looked inside. There was an old fridge inside but apart from that - empty. Also, next to the shed at the side, there was another fridge/washing machine but it had gone really rusty.I bet the house would have been nice back in the day nad it's a shame as it is only going to rack and ruin.
