Hi thanks guys,I'd managed to find out it was constructed in 1896, 3 years after leeds became a city however there are reports of a cloth market which was either onsite or in the position of the post office. More confusingly, there are some scattered reports the old post office was used as an infirmary???Any light on this?thanksC

Scroll down through this, it talks of the old Post office, formerly the courts and the old Infirmry which was a different buildinghttp://www.24hourmuseum.org.uk/leeds/local/TRA ... dTnkfWMjAt

There was a cloth hall also behiond the PO. See the attached photo.red cross = POgreen cross = Old cloth hallBlue cross = old infirmaryObviously the old buildings are no longer standing, but the present buildings are on the site of old ones, with the exception of the PO!!
