I think LS1 might guess what I'm thinking here, I've noticed these strange concrete boxes on both Potternewton park & Soldiers field. There only narrow (18'' wide at most) & have padlocked doors on them. They don't look very interesting but I happen to know they both have something in common, and are near something a little less obvious. Any ideas what they are?

A real shot in the dark to get it going - do they house those old graph recorders that the Gas Board use to monitor mains pressure?

Well you could be right, The top one is Potternewton park. Would gas pipes be laid through there?Anyway over to Soldiers field there are those concrete boxes and a series of these heavy duty covers. They run the whole length of Soldiers field.

There's a definite mound or hump shape of grass over this one!

I'll let someone else have a guess here in regard to the hump, but the small stone things at Roundhay Park seem to just have some electrical sort of connection in them. I wonder if they were put there to provice electricity for when there was an event on the soldiers field years ago. Some of the lids on someof them are loose and you can peer in. Nothing too exciting though so that's my guess. As for the humps......

Isn't there an underground reservoir or something underneath Potternewton Park? If so, maybe it's related to that?(Or, more likely I'm suffering from 'false memory syndrome' and have got stuff mixed up! )CheersDave
