I've looked on the old maps and the house seems to be called Burley Hill. It also looks like the old house stood on the spot of The New Burley Club herehttp://tinyurl.com/3jflqsvThe building itself looks a bit of an hotpotch of new and old, but to me part of it looks like the old house, especially the curved bay section with the balustrades on top. Anyone know the house, or clubs history? This could be another lost hall of Leeds. EDIT.. The Club was the big house, on page one of this thread it says the New Burley club was the home to the Butler family who owned Kirkstall Forge.

I wonder if the building in the photo ever was a gatehouse or similar building? Though most of it is clearly modern some of it does look to be old (particularly if looked at in situ). It is currently the William Hill betting shop on Harrogate Road at the Marks and Spencer site. From looking at the Old Maps UK website there was a Moor Allerton House very close by from at least 1893 to at least 1966/69 but that House seems not to be there in a 1982/1993 map. If it was not be an old gatehouse perhaps someone will know what it once was. Thanks.Sorry that I have not provided a link to the Google Street view but I cannot work out how to do that!

Hi Leodian. If you want to add a link from street view, see at the top right of the image, there will be three icons, the first is a printer to print the image, the second an envelope to send the link via e-mail. The last one you need is a link icon, just click it and a drop down box will appear. It's that link you need (and I've only just found out myself) but if you click 'short code' you get a nice short URL to post on this forum.Hope that helps you
