Well, of the two, Blubberhouses at least meant she wasn't taken by cholera. And (witness you being here) she would take comfort from knowing things turned out ok, eventually.

If its any comfort Blubberhouses would have been a better place than Whitechapel even in the the workhouse era.

Or from the article linked above: "Interestingly, Blubberhouses may have derived its name from the 'blowers' or 'blauers', which was the local name for the iron-smelting furnaces, that were abundant around here."

I think I shall be able to put it onto a DVD with the aid of my wonderful Toshiba VHS to DISC or vice verca machine. I really must get down to it as a member on here kindly undertook to put it on you tube if I do. As far as I recall its around twenty odd minutes so I'll split it into two - I believe that ten minutes is the maximum per item on you tube - all new to me. Please don't expect too much - its really amateur - but there are some good views of the village when the dam was almost totally dry in 1995. Dear Blakey. Please hurry and put Jogon out of his never ending misery. Thank you Blakey did you get my email with my address? There's no need to split it as I can put it onto a site called Vimeo, similar to Youtube but they allow longer videos even full movies, so it will be seen in full. There's also a download option in case anyone wants it to keep.
Sit thissen dahn an' tell us abaht it.
