Can't believe I found this thread. I used to go here Saturday nights during 1968/9.I Remember "Paul Anka, I'm Just a Lonley Boy". When that was played, everyone left the rink except for about 6-8 who used to skate round the rink to that track. There was a young girl with dark hair who I used to watch and she would smile at me as she went round but I never had the courage to go and talk to her. She would have been about 16 at the time. I used to sit at the side by myself when this was happening. Sad really when you think about it. If I knew then what I know now !!!!!!!. Happy memories.

Ehh sorry sorry no..I used to watch and that was scary enough. What speed was the one on the end doing?Did you brave it?I was only about 7 or 8yrs old.Girl who lived by me (she was about 16 ) would get on the end. I think she worked there or was in a skating team. She was called Sandra Sergeant. What a memory I have considering my age

Early 70's period of massive inflation with oil crisis, 1973's £1.25 roughly equates to £13 today's money. I saw the Stones at the Empire Pool Wembley later that year ... ticket price? ... £1.55. Compare that with the 2012 tickets for the Stones 50th Anniv. tour, priced between £106 and £406 ...
