I like the Kremlin as wellI always expect there to be a flash of lightning emanation from that thing on top. ...or Flash Gordon's space ship about to dock. (I remember that even though it was in space, the smoke from the engine went up, and the sparks down!) I loved those sliding doors.Incidentally in the 1980s remake one of the hawk men -the one with the broken nose, was played by Ted carrol who used to play for hunslet.

Elland road's east stand was the largest cantilever stand in Europe at one point. The rest of it is a bloody dive though.

I can't belive nobody's mentioned Cottingley Towers and Heights. They've got to be the coldest, life less most imposing buildings about. It doesn't bode well for visitors to leeds if thats the first building to greet them coming down the M621.The less said about Cottingley Precinct the better. It was a dump when I left in 84, and it's got worse every year since, whats with the pyramids ?

Quote: Then theres nearly every major car dealers buildings. Im sure theres a way to put lots of glass around the bottom of the buildings without making rest of it look like its been completed on blue Peter. Couldn't agree more, it was a tragic loss when they knocked down the beautiful building RingWays Ford had and replaced it with that greenhouse monstrosity. They look like conservatories on steroids!

Not much to do with ugly buildings, but I seem to remember that Ted Carrol was one of my father's workmates at the Post Office (Telephones)

The windmills on the roof for instance will get virtually no wind. The air in contact with the building is stationary and it takes about 20 metres clearance to get the full benefit of the wind. Just more "Green Marketing" in my view. Not forgetting the subsidies and the tax free "Zero Carbon" status.Lets just see ...
We wanted to make Leeds a better place for the future - but we're losing it. The tide is going out beneath our feet.

Just out of interest, I have some pictures here that I took inside the now stripped Shaftesbury House. I think it's a good looking building.http://s268.photobucket.com/albums/jj20 ... haftsbury/
