Thanks for the photo's, chameleon, I travel on Whitehall Road every day but it's not easy to see the progress from there. Times like this I miss my desk at WestOne as I'd have been able to watch some of the demolition in progress. I, too, noticed the plant where the "second tallest mixed residential and commercial building in Europe if you don't count six others" was going to be built. I'll try to find the thread about it as I'd be interested to know what is going to be built there but don't want to take this thread off topic.

As BarFly said, thanks chameleon. Is that a phone box (booth) that is particularly obvious to the bottom in the first photo? If so it does look isolated and an unusual colour being white (which is why I wonder if it is a phone box). If it is I won't though answer if the phone rings while I pass by, as it may be like that film 'Phone Booth' where a sniper then effectively held the person hostage!

It might be one of those billboard cube thingies, I'll look tomorrow.

West One - we were very close together then, but I had a vantage point to the pool coming down which you didn't. Are you talking about the once proposed building for the pool site, was to be called the Spirical or something similar wasn't it? The land sale fell through.

An intriguing case solved, but not quite a Sherlock Holmes' two pipe job needed!

Indeed, I mainly saw the junction on Whitehall road where there seemed to be a crash every other week. I was trying to be clever and referring to the site between Wellington Street and Whitehall Road which was earmarked for a building which was to rival the Burj Khalifa if the publicity were to be believed. It seems that piles are being driven on the site now so something other than car park may be started at some point in the vaguely foreseeable future, perhaps...
