Kippax Ashtree School (old) Closed a couple of years ago, a listed building but i just can't help thinking that L.C.C. will let it crumble until it has to be pulled down for safety reasons, then sell the land for housing! As they did at Colton!!!!!!!!!

I am sure that I saw a for sale sign on the old Ashtree School. If it is it will, like you say Rangie, be knocked down and used for new housing. The council should put it to to better use, something for the community.

Hello Stevief,Yes I remember all those teachers plus Mortimer, who defected to St Theresa's and Mr Noon all 6'6" of him and driving a mini..! mostly with his knees.Mr McCann (aka Ticker) died about 1996/7 I went to the service at the church in Crossgates. And yes he did have a stall at Otley. He told me that just to make things interesting sometimes he would pretend to be French all day, he did speak French very well. Wilcock always ended he sentences with 'Mmm Okay' long before Southpark.I was there from 1965 to 1969. Hi footy,I remember Mortimer, didn't he teach history? I can picture Mr Noon emerging from his car like a genii from a lamp.Did you ever go back and visit after you left?I could never bring myself to do it.Do you know any other former pupils?I worked with 3 old boys for a while but lost touch.Hi Stevief.. I went back to a dance once in 1974. Mr. Campbell was there, what a strange HM he was, Fisher was much warmer. But there are quite a few out there on the F. Reunited site.. I did keep in touch with Gez Danby and John (Oscar) O'Shea was back over from Cork last year we met him in Leeds. Were you there that day at dinner when an old gentleman of the road walked into the dining hall and sat down at the piano and played like you never heard before, he was brilliant..Mr Fisher gently ushered him out.

Hi footy,I think I would have remembered the piano incident, perhaps I was at the other sitting.By the way,I had no complaints about school meals,2 veg, potatoes(not chips) and meat or fish.A lot better than the rubbish they serve up now!

Brownhill SchoolDoes anyone have a photo of the original Brownhill school on Harehills Lane, Leeds 9? It was demolished and the site used for housing in the 1990's.

It used to be said that the statue of the Black Prince had been placed in City Square , near the station, pointing South to tell all the southerners who've just got off the train to b****r off back down south!
