E B Balmforth- Another one bites the dust

Work has recently started on the long empty area where Balmforth's was. The work may (or may not) have something to do with the renovation work going on at the row of old premises that front the very close-by short stretch of North Street. I took the photos on March 19 2015. The first shows a general view of the site and the second shows a covered over (with planking) Sheepscar Beck that was likely covered to catch the bricks that were being knocked down from the wall by the beck.

Looks like the beck is being culverted.

THE BALMFORTH SITE.

This is the entrance to the tunnel that takes Meanwood Beck under North St. ......then under the car wash, to appear in the open again along Sheepscar St. South.

The beck completely covered, either for protection or more likely a permanent culvert.
Makes sense to culvert it, and put a new building across it.
