What was the crane they used to install the new lift at the City Varieties? There's some photos of it in the City Varieties group on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... type=3It's also some sort of Liebherr and I like the idea of avoiding the buildings around the place by going over them.

The "huge" crane at the flats here was a three axle (one front, two rear) affair, but of course it still looked highly dramatic in the confines of our car park, and so close to the building itself.     I know what you meant, too, about "fringe interest" in such things, especially when they affect your own environment.

Cheers all for your contributions about the crane. I was chatting to one of the crane crew while I was taking the photos on August 18 2012 and he said that the crane could lift up to the 500 tons that Big N mentioned yesterday. That's some weight to lift!

I would have spoilt myself if I had been close to it!Taking of things dropping I wonder how long it will be before something falls onto the glass slalom-like structure at the Trinity Project. I suspect it cannot be long (if it has not already happened) just as I'm amazed that (as far as I know) nothing has yet fallen onto and smashed the glass mosaic roof at the Victoria Quarter. You never know when a meteorite will drop!

In case anyone wonders what I mean by the glass slalom-like structure at the Trinty Project the attached photo is a Trinty Project webcam image that I saved yesterday.

Was the crane operator in the first video running away?
