hi all. bieng new lad on the block so to speak. forgive me if i going over used ground, but has any body mentioned THE LIDO cinemabramley town street.it stood between the old unicorn pub(still there}and the old cardigan arms.the lido and the cardigan were both demolished to make way for present bramley centre,(YUK)
live every day as if its your last... one day you will be right !!!

There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

The cinema was opened in 1912 and was called 'Bramley Picture Palace' until it changed to the 'Lido' in 1931. last film shown was on 08/03/1961 - 'The Nudist Story' !I believe it was invariably called the 'Bug Hutch' . You can just make out a remarkable structure on the right hand side of the building - a staircase up to the projection room - by way of a fire escape.
