Phills correct. I think you just have to ignore folk and enjoy what you are doing. I enjoy the history on this site, it's one of the reasons why I became a member. I left Leeds some years ago and was ignorant of its architecture, history etc. I was younger though and it's only as I "matured" that such things began to interest me. Thanks to this site I have seen so much of the old place I was too blind to see in my younger days and every day I learn something new.I am quite addicted to this site. Thanks to all!

It's nice to see that the Midland Railway sign is clearly being well maintained.     There was so much skill, pride, and detail went into these kind of thing years ago, today all we get is vinyl logo stickers, and the best our illustrators can seem to come up with is SpongeBob SquarePants! Spongebob Squarepants is actually quite good if you get into it. I really like it and not ashamed to say it :-).I've notice the carvings as I use the station quite a lot and being inquisitive tend to look out for these things!But... there is no mention of the two trapdoors that are on the underside of the archway. I wonder what these are for? They appear to be under rooms or something. Does anyone know? If you look on leodian's photo posted on: 25-Jul-2012 15:07:23 it is behind the top of the pillar that is closest to the camera.

I think part of one of them can be seen in the photo that I posted on July 25th at 14:58:10. It will be good to find out what they are for.

Jogon, you have quoted me as posting "Leodian wrote: This photo shows a carving that I think not boring!).". I have not posted that. I had not realised that it was possible to change a quote to read differently. Sorry if I sound annoyed but that supposed quote of mine makes me seem to be thick (perhaps that should be verbally challenged!).Thanks The Parksider for your post.

LeoPlease be assured that wasn't meant to be at all.I was about to post and realised that I had 'acres' of quote ie my post would've repeated a lot of previous.I thought I was just quoting caron (there is an earlier thread where I 'was thick' calling a poem (this poem) the Center Parcs Advert).I've seen a lot of folks 'cull' some of an earlier message/quote/inclusion just to keep their own post/word count down.Again sorry if it didn't look that way.I expect most folk would see it's my duff cut+slash edit rather than what was said.psgood thread.

What's the connection between Stoke on Trent and the camel?
The older I get, the better I was.
