It's that good a view I've even seen someone parked up on the hard shoulder with his camera and tripod set up taking pics (tut, tut!). I once brought a friend who had never been to Leeds before back to the city from Workington in Cumbria, it was one of those days when you dont have a camera but really wish you did. It had been overcast and miserable but as we left the M62 and headed down the M621 there was a break in the cloud and the city was bathed in sunlight. As we dropped down the hill I said "and theres Leeds right in front" The sight genuinely drew a gasp from her as it looked quite stunning with the sun bouncing off the buildings. Always thought this aspect good myself.......Other favourites are at top of park gates at Middleton,on Town St,overlooking the clearings and across to Leeds and also as you travel down Belle Isle Rd...after the roundabout, towards the M1 motorway bridge near the bottom.

Well I solved the mystery where the warning lights were coming from. It's quite deceiving at night time. The two red lights I can see are on top of Broadcasting place (the rusty building) slightly to the left of Cottingley Towers. Apologies for the poor quality Night exposure, I had to balance the tripod on a very narrow window ledge and steady the camera, there was a real danger it toppling out of the window and smashing to pieces a 100' below Those red lights are very bright, they stand out very noticeable compared to the others around, and I'm not sure why there would be two lights on one building?I really can't say I've seen them much before this last week or so. I'm wondering if they are new replacements for what was there before?

I'm glad you worked it out Phill - it certainly had me wondering. As has been commented on earlier in the thread, it seems like there are suddenly lots more warning lights across the city centre, including on buildings that don't appear to have had them previously.I wonder if it's a change in the legislation? Much of the city centre is directly under the flightpath to LBIA, so that could have a bearing. As for two lights on the top? I'm guessing it's a redundancy issue - if one fails then the other will still be lit. Either that or there are 4 lights arranged to be visible from all angles, but you can see two of them from where you are.
