I may be wrong but I seem to remember that the new bungalow behind the loo was built on the understanding that the iron horse would be demolished shortly afterwards. Whether or not the "listed building" issue came to light too late I'm not sure - can anyone else remember ?? I do recall though that one of our lady inspectors vowed (quite seriously) that she would never again board a bus there because "Every time I'm standing there there's always that whooshing and sluicing going on inside the ruddy thing." Glad it brought back memories!

With reference to the Police Station mentioned on this thread.Yorkshire archivers have put the police occurence book for Kirkstall 1872-1876 on CD-rom in pdf format.I have a copy and it is fascinating reading.More details here:http://www.yorkshireindexers.co.uk/wiki ... 1872-1876)

So the bus stop just down from and opposite the West End is where the tramshed was? Does that mean that it's been there for over 130 years? There is a door in the wall by the bus stop, I've often wondered what's behind it.
