I can't remember any hockey of football but they did have breaks for speed skating and and back skaters. They also had breaks for couples if I remember rightly. I wonder if I can still skate like I did then. he he he They also had a go on at your own risk session, which was a lot of fun.

Our gang, "Blue Stamp" from Beeston used to go to the Rollerina most Friday and Saturday nights in about 71-72. I remeber the mens speed sessions used to start off with Wipeout by Surfaris? then Red River Rock and I remember they used to play a track by Titanic called Sultana. Most of the time we didn't even get skates we just went to ogle the girls. After the Rollerina we sometimes made our way down to the American Coffee Bar on Wellington Street. Ahhhh....... those were the days.

When I worked for Samuel Ledgard's we had twelve minutes standing time (easily stretched to fifteen evenings) in King Street near the Metropole and we often used to nip round to the The American Coffee Bar (sub basement) - happy days indeed.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

I remember going there to a disco cannot remember the name. Also the last visit to the rollerskating I broke my leg may be why I never went again.

It was my first 'big' concert. Yes, I went to that gig too. Bowie actually played two sets one after the other with a half hour break between them for audiences to get in and out. I went to the second one, he finished the first set by playing Drive in Saturday [ my favorite ] everybody could hear while waiting to go in for set two. Sadly in the second set he didn't play DIS and finished with the B side of that track Turn Turn Turn ? or Round Round Round ? or something like that.

The Rollarena concert was a replacement for the original gig at the Uni (or Poly?), cancelled because the stage wasn't big enough.

It just seems a bit odd that the stage at the uni wasn't big enough when just about everyother band played there at that time. Bowie and the Spiders numbered four so why they needed a bigger stage than anybody else is difficult to grasp.
