Here's the former Haddon Hall- a surprising location tucked away down a side-street(Bankfield Terrace). Closed in 1960, Bingo for many years, now warehousing. The Entrace foyer - which had the 'Half-timbered' effect that was not unusual in cinema architectecture was demolished a few years ago (10?) - but the 'Auditorium' can be seen behind where the foyer stood. the entrance was in the position of the blue railings at the right. The blue roller door is a recent addition. The entrance foyer was very narrow - only half the width of the actual cinema.

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

arry awk wrote: hiya drapesyThere is an old pic of the Haddon Hall cinemaback on page 10 amongst others posted for me by my recalcitrant offspring Scandy!(Red Carded!).Thanks for those shots wonder what they are going to do with the remains?CheersArry Yes - if you look at the pic you can see the 'half-timbered' entrance I was talking about - but the buildings to the left are not the cinema - that was behind. The buildings to the left were used by Potts clock makers/repairers. - i think its still some sort of Engineering works.

Are you refering to the Hillcrest Picture Lounge, junction of Harehills Lane with lupton Avenue.I have a photograph of what must be an artist impression of it.If it was built, it was by my Great Great Grandfather, Thomas Morley & Son. He owned a building firm on Lupton Ave, Harehills Lane at Hillcrest House, which I believe is now the Transport Office. Below a photograph of the Morley family all outside the house taken around 1920

I am new to this forum but have read it with great interest with my Mother who was brought up in Leeds 9 during the 30's-60's. She has mentioned a lot of the cinemas previously mentioned by all and has also talked about one being on Easy Road, which I subsequently found out on Leodis was pulled down in 1958. I was wondering if anybody had any images of the old picture house as I have not been able to find any.
