Phil, you have reminded me that is where I saw the pic in the first place (Jim Soapers book) - There are that many great pics I cant remember them all! When I get home I will see if I can find the pic I was on about. It is face on with the bus emerging onto woodhouse Lane- after this above pic was taken as the Merrion Centre was 80% built.

I remember just how negative they were when it came to trying to capture the mothballed Odeon in there. Still i hope there happy now it's all been ripped out, lost forever without any decent article about it. Don't think i'll be asking them for a look at Rockingham street unfortunately mate Went to the Merrion Centre Odeon shortly after it opened .Memory tells me there were fewer than thirty people inside .

Thats what I always remember in there, although Mecca was a tad before my time, I just remember tiffany's upstaris next to Bali bar! I only ever remember C&R outside over the road. Some fo the "older" ones may remember it differently

We used to have a drink downstairs in the Wade before going to the Mecca monday nights (1971). The barman was a bit fruity but allegedly hard as nails. The other pubs in the Merrion were the Highlander (ground floor?) and another upstairs near Jumbo records, but I can't recall the name of it......Also at the Merrion Centre (1970's) were the Hofbrauhaus & the Bierkeller, but can't remember where exactly. Anyond care to jog my memory?
