As a kid growing up in Armley in the 70's I used to spend all my pocket money at the model shop on the Town Street (at the corner Town St & Carr Crofts)Airfix, Revell, Frog, Heller, Dragon, Matchbox & Italera model kits, this place had everything. Passed it yesterday and it's now an Internet Cafe.

I can't remember the model shop, but i certainly recollect the Aurora glow in the dark monster models i used to feverishly collect. The Wolfman, Frankenstein, Dracula, Creature from the black lagoon and the strangely melancholic Forgotten Prisoner. I can still see them glowing in the darkness, a luminous green while i peered terrified from under my covers, my imagination going berserk.

There was also a very good model shop on Armley Road, right next to the entrance to Sammy Ledgards garage (You can just see it on the pic here http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... SPLAY=FULL) can't remember the name though. It was all bicycles and stuff downstairs and upstairs was full to bursting of models and all the stuff needed.

There is a very good model shop at Cross Gates if you take a right at the roundabout after Seacroft Hospital its on the right on a parade of shops its been there for a number of years now and well worth a visit.

I think its at the very top of Richardshaw Lane, within yards of the main traffic lights, but I can't remember the name. I think your right Blakey, cos I remember we would play in the park, ogle at the goodies in the model shop then have to run around the corner to the 65 bus stop!

If its still in business I'll note the name for you next time I'm round that way - sorry, but the last 65 has gone, many years ago
