Roughly where the "11" is on Phill's picture link is at present a reception/hospitality facility. Inside through the front windows (don't know if the public can enter at will, it was closed when I saw it) can be seen a good sized scale model in three dimensions of the site and a large area round about it. It is lacking only in that all buildings are shown in white, thus hiding the intrusive nature of the all white development with the brick buildings surrounding it.I understand that there exists another model of the site created by the architects, unfortunately not on public display. It's a cheeseboard - literally!

Is that the old wagon lift between 10 and 11?In view of the sloping roofs on some of the buildings I hope they take into account the possibility of snow 'avalanches' in wintry weather. Mind you, they may make fun short ski runs! Looking at the artists illustration it seems to me that the site would make an ideal rail station, perhaps calling it the Central Station in view of its location. Hang on a sec, of course, it would be perfect for a trolleybus garage!

Re: The old wagon lifting tower at Wellington Place.
I took this photo on October 30 2014 looking across Whitehall Road. It shows the old wagon lift between the yellow crane and a tall block, with the wagon lift now nearly surrounded by the work going on at the Wellington Place development. I don't know for sure but I suspect that the tall blocks are lift shafts that are built first.

This is a closer-in photo that I took on October 30 2014 holding my camera right up to some security mesh fencing. The old wagon lift might be hidden, or at least poorly visible, from this Whitehall Road viewpoint when the Wellington Place work is finished.

Looks like the old lifting tower will get a clean up in the MPEC development, which has now broken ground on another buildin, number 5 which is on the corner of Whitehall Road and Northern Street.

I've only had a cursory look so far but it is a very interesting document that includes great photos of the wagon tower.
