Always remembered the nymphs on plinths, but they were moved with the remodellining of City Square to reflect their original position.Th Black Prince hasnt moved, its an optical illusion.Preparatory road works were carried out for the (assured) Supertram, the road works lead to a widening of the road down from Park Row,hence the apparent "movement forward" of the Black Prince.BTW,there was a local by law prohibiting the striking of matches on the bottoms of the Nymphs.I love stuff like that

'BTW,there was a local by law prohibiting the striking of matches on the bottoms of the Nymphs.'There's also one forbidding the beating of rugs on Sundays, so if they misbhave over the weekend - punishment must wait 'till Monday

I'm not sure when, and it may not be true, but one of my teachers told me that during one refurbishment project the nymphs were given a good clean up. However, after protests from the workers, each nymph was surrounded by a tent so the cleaners could rub and polish without embarassment.
