It's a shame they've got the place sponsored like that. I'd be happier with Leeds City Arena or something rather than First Direct Arena. I think it just adds an air of tackiness to it, and where do you stop? Co-op Funerals Arena would put a dampener on it!

Perhaps the Co-op Funerals Arena would specialise in Soul music!

That is the wonderful corporate world we live in now. Still, it could have been a lot worse and at least it's a Leeds based company.

An announcement by the BBC this morning that their sixtieth Sports Personality of the Year show will take place at the first direct Arena in Leeds. Here it is....http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/sports-per ... /22435344I thought the BBC had made a bu**er of it at first, or at least 'disrespected' - stupid word - the sponsor. On looking it up, first direct is correct. They are not First Direct.

I sort of had an inkling a while ago about this, there was an article online where someone quite senior connected to the arana mentioned a high profile event that could be coming in December, this was not long after Elton John was announced.Wish id have opened my usually big mouth at the time, and i could have basked in the glory

I've got the 'privilege' of going to see the WWE there in November...I'll let you know what the place is like and get photos etc.
Young 'uns that have no interest in the history of the place they grew up in....disgraceful.
