Does anyone know if Jack Charlton or perhaps another Leeds United player ever had a shop on Harehills Lane?

I think Paul Madeley also had a place in the market together with his brother. I think they sold out to one of the nationals but can't remember which one.

Leodis as per:http://www.leodis.net/display.aspx?reso ... PLAY=FULLI seem to recall the DIY place was run mainly by Paul's brother, who appeared on the local TV adverts I think. I think there was an outlet in Leeds market? Might have sold the business to Do it All [WH Smith] Edit: it was Payless DIY that John Madeley sold it to.http://goliath.ecnext.com/coms2/gi_0199 ... built.html

Hi everyone,Madeley's used to have a big shop on the Ring Road at Lower Wortley but I can't remember when or for how long. A quick look in the 1980 telephone directory shows several local shops:http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view. ... =&gskw=Ian

Moved into my first house in 1999 and gradually peeled back the early 1970's 'improvements'. When I finally pulled the hardboard off the stairs to reveal the Victorian banisters, I found a full page add for Madely's sale stuffed inside. Various items were circled. Hardboard, check. Polystyrene ceiling tiles, check. Flock wall paper, check. Vinyl floor tiles (Stuck over fantastic victorian tiled floor), check. Artex, check. The weirdest thing though was the TV listings on the other side. Bruce Forsyth, Cilla Black etc exactly the same crew were on TV the night I found the paper.

It's now Jack Fulton's.
