I found the Roman road!

Living fairly near to where the Roman road is thought to have been I have known of my local part of its route from books. From Google maps I have seen what I think could be a trace sign of the route but being unsure I have not posted. In view of Si's very useful post I thought I would do a post. If it works (and that is a big if!) the image will show what may be a very short stretch of the line of the road as it goes through part of Headingley golf course to King Lane (it does follow Si's line well). I accept that I may be wishfully thinking that what looks like a short straight line may only be a track on the golf course and a wall behind the houses of what was King Lane Farm until it was converted to homes. Apologies if I am just being very optimistic. Edit added moments after posting. Wow the image loaded which did surprise me as my efforts at saving scenes from Google maps is rarely successful. I hope the line I am talking about can be made out! The area of the image is in the bottom right of Si's map.

Ghalky - Double post usually result from a slow upload when posters thinking it hasn't worked keep pressing send, try waiting a little longer for the message box to clear and the screen to return shoeing your message on the board

Or it may have been browser! We know, other than the way attached images display, that Internet Explorer(IE), Chrome and Firefox work (you do need to attach images with IE though) but more obscure browsers like Opera and Safari may be the cause.

Chalky wrote: Thanks very much for your time to post.Right, we need a Roman Road investigation Society.Anyone up for it? Chalky mate,The road is there but it doesn't show at the surface. The Romans did such great construction work that it exists in terms of it's foundations. You have maps from Si etc to be able to follow the line on a surface that is significantly above the surface of what is left of the road.If we are to "discover it" we need to use either our imaginations or a mechanical digger!!!
