The coat of arms is typical of a Victorian Law Court, but of course could grace anywhere connected with the establishment.......The Trade sculpture - could that be from a Union Building??? I don't know. But i'm really impressed with the Forgemasters sculpture. I can only think of Sheffield when i see that.It would be nice to see them on a building in Leeds again i think.

The sculpture is excellent. It does not seem to have weathered much (if at all) so I wonder if it was originally indoors? Not Leeds but it reminded me of the very nice large stonework that is in Blackpool Pleasure Beach (well it was still there when I was last there 4 years back). It was apparently being thrown away by the Blackpool council but was saved from being destroyed. I appreciate that not everything can be saved so it's good that a site like Secret Leeds and Leodis have photos to fall back on of old and new things in Leeds.

The guy is pouring a small amount. Maybe artistic licence? Dogduke recognised the goldbeaters sign on Bramleys Yard thread, so maybe he or someone else knows their old trade union insignia?

I'm just wondering if the thing is scaled down to fit on the lintol to be honest. I assume an exact scale size of the tools, furnace e.t.c would take up an entire wall instead of above a door. The guy is using a lump hammer, i wouldnt have thought that was a tool used for small, intricate pieces really?

You want to see the size of the things. There's some weight in them. There leant against a wall, the coat of arms is chained to the wall to stop it falling over. The coat of arms is easily 4' high. There seriously heavy.
