Si, on your first downloaded picture (16.17.58 ) measure 33mm from left, 12mm from top and the oblong black blob you locate is the structure I refer to.

Cardiarms, I can just (with a supreme act of faith!) just detect the offending article on the first and fourth of these photos, but I don't think they are of significant help. Great set of pictures though!

It's oops time again folks. In my post of 19 April 2010, 16.37.31 hrs, seeking to identify this structure on Si's picture posted on 19 April, 16.17.58 hrs, I neglected to allow for the fact that not all computer screens are the same size. So :-On my computer screen Si's image measures 96mm wide by 76mm deep. I measure 33mm from the left hand border of the image,12mm from the top border to locate the tower, appearing as a vertical black oblong shape. Hopefully a proportional calculation will allow others to locate it on their screens.

Having quickly taken a course in Higher Maths, and using your hi-tech laser system of pin-pointing places on photos, I've come to the conclusion that your tower is this square (marked red) on the 1908 Godfrey map, but could be wrong! It doesn't say what it is though.

Spot on Si. Many thanks for posting that, it is extremely helpful. I'm afraid my computer license has a codicil saying "only with outriggers and a wrist strap to Mummy"!
