If I'm in the right place there are two. An abandoned sewer runs low in the valley by the beck. that's not to say it isn't channeling natural ground water now. The current live sewer runs through the wood about 2/3 of the way from Cobble Farm to the beck. And yes, all routes lead to Knostrop!

'I suppose (Cardiarms will confirm) this is the main sewer running from shadwell down the wyke valley to the sewage works on Ponte Lane? 'Actually, thought this ran down through the farm (Roundhay Grange) more to the east of here, Phill has encountered what seemed to be a well charged flow there, and is in keeping with suggestions from another lengthy thread on water origins past, heeading towards Wyke Beck!

I'm not sure that's the right shelter, Steve. It's right by the path and rectangular in plan, whereas the one in Big Rob's picture is octagonal.

As this appears to be a bit of a lost relic here is a map:This is only a rough idea of where it is. It's easier to find on foot than on a map due to it being in the woods.

I shall have a wonder up there this weekend to investigate.

I'm glad you've put that google image up Big rob. I've looked at that looped dirt track inbetween Elmete lane, and the area you've marked a few times. It's a strange shape when you look at it close, It's a bit like a figure 8, but the far loop looks like a sun pattern lol. It doesn't go anywhere. Any ideas what created it, what it is for anyone?

It seems to be a dirt track that goes round in needless circles, i've put an overview of it up here if someone wants to put in on S.Lhttp://www.flickr.com/photos/phill_dvsn/446241 ... ecretleeds
