I can't have seen the bridge in place, as it was removed in May 1941, the railway closing in 1915.Everything you need to know about the bridge, quarry and railway is on that thread, Muddy Land Rover. I think it's been mentioned on here before by Phill-d, who's the expert in these matters. I think it's shown on one of the maps on the Tithe Map thread, if you can find it. Anything left of Pool Station before i go have a look??The incline up to the quarry may have been steep?? Hi Parksider,According to the 30 year old article written by John Whitaker attached to the "Little Railway Puzzle" thread found by BramleyFettler, there's no sign of Pool Station, as it's been built over. However, there was a 1 in 6 incline (still there) between the station and the top of the hill which was gravity controlled.

Thanks Brunel. I've tried posting the picture of the bridge, but the site is still playing up, and it don't work.

Wagons full of stone travelling down the slope to the dressing facility at Pool Station were partly counter-balanced by empty wagons travelling back up, as the hauser or rope was on a continuous loop. At the top of the slope, a brake drum controlled the speed and progression. The movement was "gravity controlled", but the brake drum controlled the effects of gravity!
