Not like your photo chameleon, this one is fixed on a pole that in turn is badly lashed to the lamp.I don't have a camera and don't use mobile phones so if anyone happens to be wandering around city square perhaps you could look.I haven't been in Leeds for the past 2 days and won't be back there till monday working so I don't know if the thing is still up there.

I put it there Steve, thers a Pagan Moot happening at Bagel Nash I'm sure there is a site with City Cam real time views. City square is/was one of them, Bridgewater place construction was another.Do you it think it could have been one of these Steve? Anyone know of the link to this site please?

I noticed these on Tuesday. there are two on lower briggate. one looking up from the viaduct pub and one looking down from nandos. they look like they will come down in a high wind.I'm not sure whether the box at the bottom is for batteries or a tape

Have to slightly disagree Steve. The camera is a deadringer for that but it is mounted on what resembles a giant telescopic radio aerial that as you say is amateurishly lashed to a lamp post with a metal case padlocked at the bottom

The temp. cameras are used to monitor traffic flow. They are part of the traffic census. They are part of a wider traffic census plan. For the last several months leeds city council and uk government have been monitoring traffic flow/ congestion in and around leeds, with a view of bringing in a congestion charge. If anyone remembers back a few years to when the south of leeds was set up with a congestion charge zone, which was a trial version ie. no one was charged a fee.Several vehicles where part of the trail and the rest of us was just monitored to see the out come of the trial. The out come was the central government put the roll out of the congestion charge on hold for a few years. Now they are testing the water again, before rolling out the dreaded congestion charge to us mugs.Lets hope it fails.

well if it is to do with bringing in a congestion charge, maybe someone should drop a line to the YEP so the good people of Leeds get a chance to comment?might make the powers that be think again!
