This is where the Chartist newspaper the Northern Star was published for several years and Frederick Engels visited the office in 1843. There is a campaign to get a blue plaque erected once the arcade is redeveloped. I'm interested in finding out a little bit more about the Northern Star, & Engels' visits here...

I always liked it. There was an Ethiopian cafe in there and all sorts of interesting little enterprises. Also when I was a kid Truck Stop was a real mecca for me. All the latest skateboard gear to ogle at.
Ravioli, ravioli followed by ravioli. I happen to like ravioli.

There are only 10 types of people in the world -those who understand binary, and those that don't.

Their 'specials' were delicious and good value for a 'Set' meal. Good quick service always. Shame it closedperhaps too many local cats disappearing? On the downside, the gent's toilet was disgusting!

You're right 'Arry - I've had many a decent Chinese meal in The Golden Gate - but I'm glad I never studied the Feline Population Figures at the time LOL LOL

The arcade's opened up now, though all shops are empty. Oddly its been renamed to Central Arcade - pretty sure there's already a central arcade in LeedsLooks like its getting a Greggs on the corner of Briggate.
