TUESDAY 8 JULY, 6PMJohn Thorp MBE began working as an architect for Leeds City Council in 1970, and became Civic Architect in 1996. His understanding of the development of the city of Leeds is unparalleled. We are delighted to be hosting this informal talk which will focus on the 1930s, a decade of rapid development which saw the creation of such icons as the Civic Hall, The Queens Hotel, The Headrow, Quarry Hill flats, and of course the new Directors’ office for Joshua Tetley & Sons, which is now The Tetley.Join us for this copiously illustrated talk which will reference the construction of The Tetley (an Art Deco gem) in 1931, with time for discussion and a look around the building afterwards. A glass of wine is included in the ticket price of £5. Book via Eventbrite.http://thetetley.org/illustrated-lectur ... 30s-leeds/
