Does anyone know whats going on with that massive 1960s office block called 'Viewpoint' above Bramley Shopping Centre? For the past few months while passing through the place and waiting for a bus at the depot I have noticed that what used to be the foyer to the 3 storeys of offices above the shops has been taken over and used as a charity 'shop' for Bramley Elderley Action. Not so long ago there was a sign up saying refurbished offices 'to let'. The sign has now gone and I imagine access to these refurbished offices is limited if not impossible. It seems strange that such large and relatively modern offices in a busy location would lie empty indefinetely. You can see that all the 3 floors are vacant and each floor looks to be larger than a football pitch so a vast footprint of space is going to waste. Not to mention the potentially hundreds of people who could be working there if the place was occupied by a large company or range of smaller firms.

It's a 60s office block in bramley, that's the problem. Same problems City House had. Big space surprisingly difficult to break up into smaller units due to ventilation, security and emergency evacuation. Also built before widespread cabling required so all cables come via ducts from the ceiling, again limiting office layout. Basically you need someone who can afford a whole floor and put up with a lot of retrofitted cabling every where. Does it have parking?

Yeah I see what you mean Cardiarms, there is the huge carpark right next door, but I think thats mainly for shoppers, still I'm surprised its not been taken over as floor space by Tesco or something. Or with the trend for urban apartments these days that its not been converted to flats. They could house dozens of families / couples etc here if it was converted properly.
