Unusual Houses/Gardens

I noticed a house at Pudsey the other day that had nothing in the front garden except two 4 foot Lions, like Landseer Lions at the bottom of Nelsons column. I thought it was a bit unusual and it made me chuckle. It brought to mind a house on Bawn Approach at Farnley that is covered in gnomes (on the porch/Garage etc) and the famous Bathouse on Ash Road at Headingley.I wonder where the most unusual House/Garden is(apologies if this has been discussed already)

The "Bathouse" was done by an old mate of mine, Pete. It appared on Look North once, but has been redecorated in the last couple of years and is no more.

IanI live opposite the Bawn Approach house and have to look at his bloody gnomes everytime i look out of my window!! I'll get a picture tonight and try and get it on here tomorrowAnyway, here's my favourite strange / unusual house. It's in Bramley on Lower Town Street and dates from the 1600's.The pic is from Leodis and shows the building as it used to be, now the houses lower down have been demolished and this is the only one left standing amongst some terribly desgined 2/3 storey houses / flats

The temptation about age, etc, is too great, but I WILL resist

) Thats the house that is supposed to have a tunnel leading to Kirkstall abbey isn't it. Thats the story I was always told as a kid.

Si - a tunnel from there to Kirky???I too heard stories about that as a kid, but surely that would be an engineering impossibility? Before the cut was dug, they wouldn't have had the technology to build a tunnel under the river. Post cut, would have meant even the engineering advancement of the day would have been hard pressed to tunnel under the cut AND the Aire?Think it were just local myth.NOT that you'd know, being an armleyite, like?

Apparently there is a tunnel in the property that leads toward the Abbey. However it only goes so far and then it's collapsed. Runs for a few hundred yards thought, allegedly!!

I can sympathise with FarnleyBloke having to look at those gnomes, it looks a bit tacky.I can't picture the building on Bramley Town St though, I will have to take a ride down there.ps I remember a house at Otley near Longs Transport that had a hedge cut into the shape of a train. Not over exciting but different.

Not over exciting but different. The house at Bramley is on the right as you approach the shopping centre, going towards Rodley. I work in Sheffield, at the moment, for my sins, and there is a house near my workplace with a cracking bit of topiary (?) with the massive hedge (privet) in the shape of a loco!! Not really pertinent but just thought I'd share it with you all!! Lol
