Venerable Bede church Stanningley Rd

I was just wondering on my drive into work today how old the Venerable Bede church in Bramley is? I thought maybe '50s/'60s but don't know for sure.I thought if anyone knows it will be someone on Secret Leeds!Here's a link to it on street view if you're not sure of the one I mean - http://g.co/maps/9ttk8

I wish they hadn't bothered. Every time I go past I think what a dreadful unwelcoming place it looks - a complete blot on the landscape.

I've always thought the design must have been heavily influenced by the Electricity Board.

SPLAY=FULL Ah never thought of checking Leodis, I guess it's quite hard to date because it's essentially a big brick box.It's not the prettiest of buildings but I like it for some reason, then again I think I have weird taste in architecture as I liked the International Pool and the building that used to be on the arena site...

Yes jd you're right - I admit that it was shocking and I feared there woud be some RESISTANCE to it - in fact I wouldn't be surprised to receive an envelope marked OHMS about it !!
