Does anyone have any pictures or information about Listers Mill in Armley. It was opposite the chip shop that was next to Armley moor on Armley town street. from what I know, in the 60's to around the 90's that is was a leather tannery. I also heard, it was also a slaughter house many years ago! I know it has now been demolished and would just love to see some photo's of when it was in use

Hi DB64. Welcome to the site.Searching Leodis with "lister" and "armley" produces this.Any use?The caption reads,"Undated The leather merchant's business of J.W.Stott & Son had been at this address in Theaker Lane for many years. Kelly's Directory for Leeds for 1888 records a John William Stott, Lister and Stott, Leather Merchants. The business is also listed in the 1955 Barrett Dirctory as 'leather and belting'. These old properties in Theaker Lane were eventually demolished."PS Click on the red X to view.

The Listers Mill tannery would have probably been later than this, It's address was classed as Modder Place (Opposite Blakey's foundry) I think? But definately not Theaker Lane. I cannot find pictures anywhere.
