Our for a walk this morning, we stumbled across this sandwiched between the former Leeds - Wetherby railway line and Wetherby Racecourse:http://snipurl.com/1uk33eI couldn't figure out what it was through the trees, but a closer inspection reveals it looks like a former BMX track. Presumably unused for many years, looking at the state of much of it.Does anyone remember it being built or used? It seems an odd place for it, quite a way from the nearest homes, or indeed roads - was the former railway line accessible back in the 80's when it was presumably in use?

I have often walked past this site.Could it be the site of the former Wetherby Racecourse Station?Only used on race days.Or less interesting, when the line was made into the cycle/walkway all the usual leftovers were dumped here.

Looks like Brunel has got it spot on, on the 1952 map there it is and further up the line is the old Goods station, where the Engine Shed is today.

Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?
