Many people think this is a closed church: but it's alive and flourishing - and an architectural treasure. This year All Souls is taking part in Treasures Revealed, 1-9 May.The church will be open Saturday 1st and Weds. 5th, 10:00 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 16:00, with opportunity to play the Isaac Abbott organ on the Saturday. Saturday 8th Leeds Guild of Singers sing "In a strange land" at 17:00, followed by an All Souls' Feast. And, of course, the church is open for worship Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Sunday - see www.allsoulsleeds.org.ukDeep apologies if it's taking a liberty to post this advert but All Souls' is virtually a secret place: built on a once bustling road, which now has a 'no through traffic' sign at one end and a 'no exit' sign at the other; built to serve houses now demolished on streets that no longer exist, 12 minutes' walk from the Merrion Centre - but virtually unknown. The last church designed by George Gilbert Scott, who also designed The General Hospital in 1869, it's a secret worth sharing. IMHO anyway - come and see if I'm right.

I just wonder if my dear old Dad and the rest of his family were ever at the Sunday School or congregation ?? - He was born in Carlton Hill in 1889.
There's nothing like keeping the past alive - it makes us relieved to reflect that any bad times have gone, and happy to relive all the joyful and fascinating experiences of our own and other folks' earlier days.

My father lived on Lofthouse place just infront of it with my grandparents and uncles. My Brother also got married there in 1985, the vicar though who married my brother, got sent to prison years later for assault apparently. Wonderful church though family have fond memories.i would love to go, but am away on hols that week.
