Anyone remember them? Are they still there in Headingley off Broomfield Terrace? The owners kept two monkeys (squirrel monkeys?) in a large cage - Simi and Simbi I think they were called. You could stand next to the cage in the drive and see them, they would come up to the fence and chatter. They didn't like women and would get agitated. Thje woman who lived there once let me take my dog into the garden where it ran around the fence perimeter trying to chase them. Rumour had it that there was a bat pole inside the house and that the owner had a house near Queenswood Drive that was painted lilac and had the Bat Sign painted on the wall (such a house did exist - I saw it many times).

I grew up next door to those monkeys! Top of Rochester Terrace and Broomfield Crescent. She's still there but the monkeys are long gone. After her first two she used to foster a lot, between being rescued and placed in new homes. One of the first ones escaped and bit my mate. One of the later ones used to enjoy letting people get close then whip his knob out and have a quick hand shandy. She also used to have to have two huge Afghan hounds. They'd bark at anything passing and we were terrified of them. I remember the Bat House but I'm not sure it was her son's though they did have a few properties in the area IIRC.

Ha, memories. For a while I was a paperboy (fro Chapel Lane Stores) and delivered papers there. Yes, you are right, it was Broomfield Crescent and Rochester Terrace. I knew a few people from around there, maybe I knew you?The bit about the monkey whipping it out cracked me up!

There are only 10 types of people in the world -those who understand binary, and those that don't.

I dont think he's anything to do with the 'monkey lady '.
