Good even to all, and most felicitous greetings for all fellow travellers on the Victorian way.For those among you who undergo the deletarious sufferings that originate from hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia, it would be wise to avert your gaze. Now the conundrum for the consideration of confident and confused alike, can come before all.Once again, pictures and even a photgraphic image may be discovered, yet once more the cruel finger of progress has removed this fine old place from our presence - yet this was probably not ever such a place to grace a fine city. " The XXXXX XXXXXX is the oldest existing hostelry in Leeds. It was often called the Broad Yate - in allusion, I suppose, to the open street

hmm. Whitelocks was supposedly the oldest inn in leeds. Formerly the Turk's Head. What this has to do with the fear of longly worded hippopotami I don't know though.

Sir John - there's no "was" about it concerning 'Whitelock's'.Its my understanding that the oldest inn in Leeds was the "White Hart" situated in a yard off the east side of Briggate . demolished c1900, Queen's Arcade now occupies the site.Leodis pic from c1890

there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.
