A good What and Where that turned out to be one of the very few W&W that I knew (well, fairly certain that I knew!) as I thought I recognised the inscriptions from when I very occasionally pass by on a bus. I have though learnt something that I did not know (which is effectively everything ;) ) as I would have said they are on a building on Roseville Road. I did not know that it is called Cross Stamford Street for some way before that road becomes Roseville Road :o.

Stamford St. was the one that ran from North St down past the White Stag pub to the roundabout at the bottom. for some reason the Post Office on North St. opposite was called the Stamford St. P.O. rather than a North Street address, until the two shops were demolished on the main Rd. the White Stag was hidden from view.
